Do you wonder if you should push yourself in your workouts and climbing during times of low-energy? This workshop is designed for female-bodied athletes to learn and understand how to maximize performance throughout the menstrual cycle. Participants will receive education on hormone changes, impacts on metabolism, energy systems, repair, and recovery. By harnessing knowledge about our hormonal systems, we can collectively be empowered to train with more intention- when to push and when to not.
Outline of the workshop:
Week 1: Centering our bodies and redefining performance.
The first night will be an educational class, where you will learn about the recent research of hormone fluctuations and how they relate to exercise science. We will discuss how changes throughout the month can affect performance, and how to be smart about what to do when.
Deeper subjects to be covered include ‘normal’ menstrual cycle, hormonal birth control, IUDs, and will touch on menopause. With a deeper understanding we will discuss what types of training are important and why. We will also discuss fueling/ nutrition and how it can impact energy levels and outcomes.
Week 2-5: Training through the cycle exercise classes!
Each individual can explore how to adjust exercise type and dosage depending on which phase of the cycle they are in. I will be there to teach the circuit class, help to modify training on the spot, and provide some of my favorite climbing and non - climbing specific workouts. Let’s train together!!
Cost: Recommended donation sliding scale from $200-$400 per person for the 5 weeks, 1 hour class from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights.
